An excellent budget gaming mouse

Razer is known for its top notch PC gaming gadgets. From gaming mouse to gaming keyboards, RGB headsets and many more. They got what every gamers needs and wants. Razer is the team green of PC accessories(aside from Nvidia of course).

I got a new mouse for review. It's the Razer Viper Mini. This is not a top-of-the-line Razer mouse, nope quite the contrary. This is one of Razer's wallet friendly gaming mice. The mouse has been 2 years in the market but still remains popular for gamers due to its reliable performance at a competitive price.

Build Quality

The Razer Viper Mini is an ultra-lightweight mouse. It weighs only 61 grams (excluding the cable) makes it one of the lightest mice in the market. The mouse has a minimalist and sleek design that would look great on any gaming setup. It's made up of durable plastic with matte black finish that is resistant to fingerprint smudges. What impress me on this mouse is Razer Speedflex cable which makes everything the mouse and cable so light such that it's very easy to move the mouse without any drag or snag. Looking at the bottom, there are 2 feet made of PTFE material which helps the mouse glide smoothly.

Performance

I've been using the Razer Viper Mini for a couple of days now as my daily driver and got to tell you I'm impressed. The mouse is ultra-light and quite comfortable to use. It's should work for both right- and left-handed gamers as the mouse is advertised as ambidextrous. When you plug the mouse right out of the box for the first time a window pop-up would appear and ask if you want to install Razer Synapse and Razer Cortex. I find the automatic device detection as user friendly since the software is already communicating to the user what Razer App needs to be installed. This saves the user some effort specially if he's not familiar with any of the Razer software.

Installing both Razer Apps are quick and easy. When launched the Razer Synapse would automatically detect the Razer Viper Mini. First thing I did was to make adjustments on the DPI setting. The DPI can be programmed into 4 or 5 stages. For work related setting I would normally set the DPI to 3000-3500 range. The 5 programmable DPI setting is just enough during gaming where you would need to shift DPI setting rather often. For first shooter games like CS GO the ability to adjust the DPI setting on the fly is crucial. The 6 buttons of the Viper Mini are fully programable via the Synapse App giving you the access to macros and secondary functions. The sensor of the Viper Mini is both accurate and responsive and I have not experienced any issues with tracking, jittering or acceleration.

RGB Lighting

When it comes to RGB, the Viper Mini got you covered and you won't be disappointed. Both the Logo and the LED stripe underneath support RGB and can be controlled via the Razer App. Both color and effects can be set and saved in a custom profile. Each user profile can have distinct RGB effects and DPI setting. With the Viper Mini on-board memory, there is no need to access software once the user profile is saved via Razer Synapse App.

Price and Conclusion

The Razer Viper Mini retails at ₱1,650($30) and is a great gaming mouse for its price. It offers excellent performance, comfort, aesthetics in a lightweight package. The mouse is ideal for gamers who have small to medium sized hands and prefer finger-grip style. It is also suitable for any type of games, from FPS, MOBA or RPG. If you're deciding on a budget wired gaming mouse that does not compromise on performance you should definitely checkout the Razer Viper Mini.
